[20Jul10]clipped by: JICWyllieclippers remarks: The main barrier to the global adoption of the currency is the 30 per cent charge Facebook makes on a transaction. I wonder how Facebook could stop other service providers from issuing their own, much cheaper, virtual / synthetic / community currencies in competition with Facebook credits. The stakes are enormous. Currencies levying a one or two per cent transaction charge would make ought to make a decent profit, while non-profit community currencies should have the greatest advantage, and would be hardest for Facebook to stop. Facebook is standing at the foot of a virtual cash mountain. The social networking behemoth recently announced a plan to expand the Facebook Credits program beyond its beta confines. A network-wide rollout of the virtual currency application would streamline transactions online and, in effect, pave the path to the worlds first global currency. Its also going to help Facebook scale one of its last major economic hurdles - monetizing its millions of international users. the full-scale credits program will clearly lower the adoption barrier for millions of international users, who will be able to buy credits from a single point of purchase and spend them on games and apps across the network. The temple and a number of ritual items dating back to the 10th century BCE were discovered at Tel Tsafit (Tell es-Safit/Gath) by Professor Aren Maeir of BIUs Martin (Szusz) Department of Land of Israel Studies and Archaeology and his international team. The tel is located about halfway between Ashkelon and Jerusalem, near Kiryat Gat along the southern coastal plain. ?Interestingly, the architectural design of this temple, with its two central pillars, is reminiscent of the architectural image that is described in the well-known Biblical story of Samson and the Philistines,? Maeir said. He added that the discovery could indicate that the story of Samson reflects a type of temple that was in use in Philistia at the time.

In a recent study, people in their sixties felt sadder than people in their twenties did after viewing an emotionally distressing scene from a movie. Influence and persuasion attempts must tap into these to work.~People like to follow one another, so influencers imply the herd is moving the same way.~Most people prefer to keep their word. If people make a commitment, particularly if its out loud or in writing, they are much more likely to keep it. Influencers should try to gain verbal or written commitments.~People want what they cant have, or at least what might be running short.~People are strongly influenced by experts. Successful influencers flaunt their knowledge to establish their expertise.~Give something to get something. When people feel indebted to you they are more likely to agree to what you want. This feeling could arise from something as simple as a compliment.~ 3 Universal Goals to Influence People![]() The art and science of persuasion is often discussed as though changing peoples minds is about using the right arguments, the right tone of voice or the right negotiation tactic. But effective influence and persuasion isnt just about patter, body language or other techniques, its also about understanding peoples motivations. Techniques of persuasionSocial proof Consistency Scarcity Authority Reciprocity 1. Goal of affiliationIn the most part humans are social so they want to be liked. Rejection is no fun and well do almost anything to avoid it. 2. Goal of accuracyPeople who dont care about doing things correctly never get anywhere in life 3. This world famous institution prided itself on doing things the right way; they have always been renowned for their wonderful attacking football and behind the scenes they always had a healthy balance sheet, which meant they operated on the front foot on and off the field of play. However, when the hugely successful American serial investor Malcolm Glazer seized the controlling interest back in the summer of 2005, all the good business practice sadly went out of the window. Typically, the paying public, were immediately suspicious of this outside intervention, and as time progressed they were to be proved correct in their misgivings. Giggs The Autobiographyclipped by: man_united1clippers remarks: ryan giggs and manchester united football club It seems that nowadays, if a celebrity has 5 minutes of fame, then book publishers smell a fast buck and are pressurising them into writing their autobiographies, even before they reach their mid twenties. Personally I would not bother with any that involve somebody so young, as lets be honest, their lives are still in their infancy and surely an autobiography charts a person?s progress over a much longer period of time. With footballer?s it is slightly different, but I do feel that a book shouldn?t be written until towards the end of a career, which to be fair, was what publishers maybe thought Ryan Giggs was nearing when he penned his in 2005 Giggs The autobiography. Written along side the Sunday Times chief football writer Joe Lovejoy, this is a fascinating read for all true football fans, and Manchester United supporters in particular. The book is basically divided into 5 sections and really just takes you through season by season, with the trophies mounting by the year. Manchester United Past Players ? Sir Bobby Charltonclipped by: man_united1clippers remarks: bobby charlton and manchester united football club It is inevitable that as one of, if not the most famous clubs in world football, Manchester United will have had a long list of players throughout their illustrious history, who stand comparison with any other club you?d care to mention. Are Your Children Future Red Devils Fans?clipped by: man_united1clippers remarks: red devils and manchester united football club As a kid from the 70?s and 80?s, watching football today is totally unrecognisable. In many ways it has changed for the better, with stadiums and their surrounding areas much safer and far more pleasant environments. Indeed, were you to be able to transport today?s pampered regular attendees back to those violent times, watching in crumbling terraces, amidst pitch invasions etc., the chances are they never set foot in a ground again. Well not quite, we?ve had 20 years of near continued success, so much so that it is almost unthinkable to imagine United outside the top four, but therein lies a potential problem. Big respect goes out to those supporters of clubs who are unlikely to ever win a trophy, except down in the lower leagues; they?ll stick with their clubs as their expectations are far lower and consequently so too are those of their kids growing up following the same The players themselves must also take some responsibility, but that too may be easier said than done. An Honest Review ? Rooney The Way It Isclipped by: man_united1clippers remarks: wayne rooney and manchester united football club It seems remarkable that someone only just past his 21st birthday should be approached to write his autobiography Rooney-The way it is , but such is Wayne Rooney?s standing in the game that publishers recognised that his was a story worth telling ? even at this early stage of his life. This young man was destined to play top flight football from a very early age and the book takes you back to those days growing up on a tough Croxteth council estate, with his Everton crazy family. His terrific skills, coupled with power and strength way beyond his tender years, meant he was the stand out player of not only the local area, but the north west as a whole. The pride he created by signing for his beloved Everton and scoring that famous goal on his debut ? despatched past England?s David Seaman against the mighty Arsenal as a 16 year old ? is very much apparent. He tells of his early influences, which he still refers back to and of his relationship with his long time partner Coleen. Manchester United Past Players ? Duncan Edwardsclipped by: man_united1clippers remarks: duncan edwards and manchester united football club So often young players burst onto the scene, tipped to be the next best thing since sliced bread, but either fail to fulfil their early potential, or completely disappear as fast as they arrive. That is why most true experts are guarded with their praise, that is until such a talent as Duncan Edwards arrives. Born in 1936 in Dudley, West Midlands, he was destined for greatness from a very early age; causing quite a stir by joining Manchester United instead of his local Wolverhampton Wanderers. He made his United debut against Cardiff City at the tender age of 16 years and 185 days, becoming the youngest player to appear in the top division. He quickly established himself in the side, putting in commanding performances week after week that belied his youth. His eye catching displays soon thrust him into the international spotlight and he made his first England appearance against Scotland just 2 years later ? again the youngest until Whale fossil stuck in Egypt customs wrangleclipped by: johnboy1ukIts name in Arabic is Wadi Hitan but it is known as the Valley of the Whales. ![]() For years archaeologists have been unearthing a remarkable collection of whale fossils, all the more surprising because the area is now inland desert in upper Egypt. One of the most exceptional finds was a 37 million-year-old whale from the species Basilosaurus Isis, unearthed by a team led by Prof Philip Gingerich of the University of Michigan in the United States. In his formulation of the geometry of spacetime, the speed of light is simply the conversion factor between the two. Similarly, mass and length are interchangeable in a relationship in which the conversion factor depends on both the gravitational constant G and the speed of light, neither of which need be constant. Economic Truth in 40 Statisticsclipped by: BartendingBearclippers remarks: It aint pretty... Most Americans still appear to be operating under the delusion that the "recession" will soon pass and that things will get back to "normal" very soon. Unfortunately, that is not anywhere close to the truth. What we are now witnessing are the early stages of the complete and total breakdown of the U.S. economic system. The U.S. government, state governments, local governments, businesses and American consumers have collectively piled up debt that is equivalent to approximately 360 percent of GDP. At no point during the Great Depression (or at any other time during our history) did we ever come close to such a figure. We have piled up the biggest mountain of debt that the world has ever seen, and now that gigantic debt bubble is beginning to pop. As this house of cards comes crashing down, the economic pain is going to become almost unimaginable. There is no use sugar-coating it. The U.S. economy is collapsing. An 80-year-old Frenchman was recovering in a state of shock in hospital on Saturday after being freed from a year locked in a laundry room by a wife half his age and her alleged lover. French paramilitary police rescued the unnamed man from his home in the village of Arrou, southwest of Paris, on Wednesday, blinded, malnourished and physically abused by the ordeal at the hands of his own family. A judicial source told AFP the man was conscious and lucid in hospital but did not yet want to speak to anyone. "The victim suffered violence and ill-treatment," local gendarme commander Bruno Arviset told journalists. "The man ate twice a day, mostly pastries that were past their sell-by date." As Charlie Rangels case continues its high-profile path, this much is clear: He could have avoided this public trial phase by agreeing to receive a relatively modest reprimand. Thats what a House panel recommended, but Rangel rejected the settlement offer over disagreements on just how much wrongdoing he would admit, reports the New York Times. Still, its possible this could end before the trial gets truly under way?the full House ethics committee reportedly spent most of yesterday discussing another settlement offer. ![]() Bessie B. Stringfieldclipped by: ikino22Little-Known Black History Fact: Bessie B. Stringfield ![]() Bessie B. Stringfield, also known as ?BB,? was a professional motorcyclist who gained a 60-year reputation on her wheels of steel. A rider of the 1930s and 40s, Stringfield made a name for herself after being the first black woman to make eight long-distance solo tours across the U.S. - something unheard of by a woman, especially an African-American woman. She would ride through areas that were known for racial prejudice and violence. Later on in her riding career, she was dubbed ?The Negro Motorcycle Queen.? Her riding trips would later include Brazil, Haiti and Europe. A Kingston, Jamaica native, Stringfield was brought to America at age five, only to be given up for adoption. She was raised by an Irish woman who gifted her a motorcycle at age 16 and she claims ?gave her whatever she wanted,? but only after she prayed for it. Throughout her lifetime, Stringfield owned 27 Harley motorcycles. The year the U.S.A. dissolvedclipped by: Johanna_GIt was 2017. Clans were governing America. The first clans organized around local police forces. The conservatives? war on crime during the late 20th century and the Bush/Obama war on terror during the first decade of the 21st century had resulted in the police becoming militarized and unaccountable. As society broke down, the police became warlords. The state police broke apart, and The dollar had collapsed as world reserve currency in 2012 when the worsening economic depression made it clear to Washington?s creditors that the federal budget deficit was too large to be financed except by the printing of money. Neocons on Wikileaks: Civilian Deaths No Big Deal--Not Newsclipped by: blueridgeclippers remarks: Writing from a new neoconservative propaganda group called (oh so appropriately) "Shadow Government", Rabbi Dov Zakheim ironically claims that Wikileaks "changes nothing" about justification for war, or the massive civilian "collateral damage", while conservatives and the Zionist media (which supports U.S. wars in the middle east) has been taking the founder of Wikileaks to task, even causing a literal "man hunt" for him, for his controversial methods of protected source leaks of classified military documents to shed light on war crimes and atrocities that would otherwise never see the light of day or a page in the MSM. Actually, now even the neoconservatives can be quoted, to prove, according to Zakheim, that the information exposed is really nothing to worry aboutas far as being "dangerous" to U.S. military operations (because its at least 7 months old information). So which is it Zakheim? No big deal, or a big enough deal for you to have to write about? Posted By Dov Zakheim ![]() So what to make of the WikiLeaks story? First of all, it covers a period of several years; and there is no doubt that the United States and NATO didnt get everything right in all of those years, especially from 2004 to 2007. The two big stories -- ISIs fishing in troubled Afghan waters, and the deaths of civilians -- are not really news at all. The people behind WikiLeaks make no secret of their opposition to the Afghan war. Some would like to see American troops prosecuted as war criminals. WikiLeaks sees itself as providing the world with the Pentagon Papers Redux, though no one in his or her right mind could compare the Gulf of Tonkin incident that prompted the Vietnam War buildup with the destruction of the World Trade Center. That says more about the WikiLeaks crowd than about the sins their papers purport to reveal. ![]() Hey Congress: Summon the Pentagon Comptrollers Now! Billions Missing, Againclipped by: blueridgeclippers remarks: Congress is equally responsible for this if they do nothing! This latest report of Pentagon corruption should be added to the previous $2.3 Trillion missing (yes, with a T) and Congress should IMMEDIATELY call the Pentagon Comptrollers--i.e. Dov Zakheim, William Lynn III (who was a Lobbyist for Raytheon) to testify before Congress who served during this period, and hold them to account--permitting no pleas of secret "national security interests"--as much as if all this was done by an independent contractor, (such as Booz Allen Hamilton for example, a major neocon contractor where Zakheim was a V.P. after he left the Pentagon). Congress summoned Goldman Sachs and the banks didnt they? And BP too. So what about the Pentagon comptrollers who spend a large share, secretly, with gross mismanagement, of the national budget? Audit: US cannot account for $8.7B in Iraqi fundsBAGHDAD ? A U.S. audit has found that the Pentagon cannot account for over 95 percent of $9.1 billion in Iraq reconstruction money, spotlighting Iraqi complaints that there is little to show for the massive funds pumped into their cash-strapped, war-ravaged nation. The $8.7 billion in question was Iraqi money managed by the Pentagon, not part of the $53 billion that Congress has allocated for rebuilding. With the establishment of the Coalition Provisional Authority, which ran Iraq shortly after the start of the U.S. invasion in 2003 until mid-2004, about $20 billion was placed into the account. The $9.1 billion audited by the Iraq reconstruction inspector general were funds withdrawn from that account between 2004 and 2007. The report found that the Defense Department could not "readily account for its obligations, expenditures and remaining balances associated" with the DFI. At issue was $8.7 billion, or 95 percent of the withdrawn funds.
