Mary Jo wasnt a right-wing talking point or a negative campaign slogan. Peanut Butter Muffins

Vegan Peanut Butter Banana Bomb Muffins

Ingredients:

Wet

• 2 T ground flax + 6 T water, whisked (replaces 2 eggs)
• 1 t vanilla extract
• 1/2 cup agave (or you could use maple syrup probably)
• 1/4 cup organic virgin coconut oil
• 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (2 small)
• 1/2 cup non-dairy milk (I used hemp)

Dry

• 1 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
• 2 T wheat germ
• 1 t cinnamon
• pinch of nutmeg
• pinch of fine grain sea salt
• 1 t baking soda

Bomb Filling

• 1/4 cup plain soy yogurt (or regular)
• 1 T agave (or maple syrup)
• 1 heaping T peanut butter
• 1 small ripe banana

Directions: Preheat oven to 325F. Whisk the dry ingredients in a medium sized bowl. In a small bowl, whisk the flax + water to create the ?eggs?. Allow it to sit for a few minutes. In a large bowl, mix the wet ingredients together. Add flax mixture and whisk. Fold dry ingredients into the wet ingredients being careful not to over stir. Place batter in a pre-greased muffin pan. Optional: Sprinkle with walnuts or carob nibs. Bake for 18-20 minutes.

council since July.

But he refused to supply his date of birth as required by the council,
considering it a breach of privacy, The Northern Advocate reported.

"The council are just being nosy and are trying to find something to
bully me over," he said.

Mr Agnew, from Kamo, then decided to have the dog put down rather than
give in to the council.

But when a vet had told him that would cost $111, he shot the dog
himself.

Mr Agnew then put the Coz into a dog biscuit bag and took it to the
council to "make it into a bigger issue".

Whangarei SPCA manager Francine Shields said it was sad someone should
feel desperate enough to take such a measure.

Every time human DNA is passed from one generation to the next it accumulates 100?200 new mutations, according to a DNA-sequencing analysis of the Y chromosome.

This number ? the first direct measurement of the human mutation rate ? is equivalent to one mutation in every 30 million base pairs, and matches previous estimates from species comparisons and rare disease screens.

?It was very reassuring that our application of the new sequencing technologies seems to give a reliable result and that the number we?ve been using for the mutation rate is pretty much the right one,? says Chris Tyler-Smith of the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute in Hinxton, UK, who led the study, published today in Current Biology¹.

A species of crustacean with no eyes and venom-injecting fangs has been discovered in an underwater volcanic cave in the Canary Islands off the coast of North Africa.

Researchers discovered the new animal during a diving expedition through the world?s longest submarine lava tube, called the Tunnel de la Atlantida, or ?tunnel to Atlantis.? The divers were searching for specimens of a closely related crustacean species that they?d discovered 25 years ago in the same cave. But after capturing several of the sea creatures, the researchers noticed something peculiar.

?Some animals were much more active in swimming around than others in the small sample bottles,? said marine biologist Tom Iliffe of Texas A&M University at Galveston, who was part of the team that discovered the new species. ?On closer examination, and subsequently with DNA testing, we confirmed that they were actually two different species.?

The physical shape of single carbon nanotubes has been outlined before, using similar techniques - but the new method even shows up chemical bonds.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 57% would vote to replace the entire Congress and start all over again. Eighteen percent (18%) are not sure how they would vote.

While Democrats have become more supportive of the legislators, voters not affiliated with either major party have moved in the opposite direction. Today, 70% of those not affiliated with either major party would vote to replace all of the elected politicians in the House and Senate. That?s up from 62% last year.

Canadians along the border with the US state of Michigan are ramping up their campaign to have a large American surveillance balloon grounded permanently.

They say they are worried that the aircraft is spying on them and two weeks ago a group of about 100 Canadian protesters gathered to moon the balloon by showing their bare backsides.

This weekend organisers are gathering signatures for a petition they hope will ground the aircraft, called an Aerostat, for good.

The Aerostat is filled with Helium and has the appearance of a large flying wing.

It has being tested at several points along the border.

But what has many Canadians upset, is that the Aerostat carries a powerful $1 million camera that can clearly see the name on a ship.

Many residents in the Canadian city of Sarnia say they feel as if they are being watched from above.

The Aerostats owners say they are just testing the aircraft and are not spying.

Moon rock given to Holland by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin is fake

A moon rock given to the Dutch prime minister by Apollo 11 astronauts in 1969 has turned out to be a fake.

Curators at Amsterdams Rijksmuseum, where the rock has attracted tens of thousands of visitors each year, discovered that the "lunar rock", valued at £308,000, was in fact petrified wood.

Xandra van Gelder, who oversaw the investigation, said the museum would continue to keep the stone as a curiosity.

"Its a good story, with some questions that are still unanswered," she said. "We can laugh about it."

The rock was given to Willem Drees, a former Dutch leader, during a global tour by Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin following their moon mission 50 years ago.

Forces sweetheart Dame Vera Lynn has became the oldest living artist to make it into the top 20 of the UK albums chart, her record company said. Skip related content

Dame Vera, who kept up the spirits of millions with her songs and personality during the darkest days of the Second World War, entered the album chart at number 20, at the age of 92.

Her album, Well Meet Again - The Very Best of Vera Lynn, returned her to the charts almost six decades after she topped them in the 1950s.

The album features 24 songs from Dame Veras golden years, including Auf Wiedersehn Sweetheart, which was a number one hit in the US in 1952.

Dame Vera said: "I am extremely excited and delighted to be back in the charts after all these years."

In the singles chart, Dizzee Rascal notched up his third number one with Holiday, which shot straight to the top of the chart.

The high-tempo summertime hit knocked French DJ David Guetta off the top spot, whose single Sexy Chick, featuring Akon, slid down to number two.

SAO PAULO (AP) - The founder of one of Brazil?s biggest evangelical churches siphoned off billions of dollars in donations from his mostly poor followers to buy jewelry, TV stations and other businesses for himself, authorities charged Tuesday.

Prosecutors charge that money collected for charitable work, evangelism and building funds was used instead to purchase companies. Those companies in turn were allegedly used to launder money, which was then loaned to Macedo and other church leaders, and used to purchase additional businesses, as well as real estate, aircraft and a TV station.

Two of the companies involved are said to have been responsible for moving and concealing more than $71 million.

Authorities claim that Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus, as it is known in Brazil, raises approximately U.S. $ 1.4 billion per year in donations.

In some countries the church works under a local version of the name ?Stop Suffering?.

If they could vote to keep or replace the entire Congress, just 25% of voters nationwide would keep the current batch of legislators.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 57% would vote to replace the entire Congress and start all over again. Eighteen percent (18%) are not sure how they would vote.

While Democrats have become more supportive of the legislators, voters not affiliated with either major party have moved in the opposite direction. Today, 70% of those not affiliated with either major party would vote to replace all of the elected politicians in the House and Senate. That?s up from 62% last year.

Republicans, not surprisingly, overwhelmingly support replacing everyone in the Congress. Their views have not changed. But Republican voters are disenchanted with their team as much as the Congress itself: 69% of GOP Voters say Republicans in Congress are out of touch with the party base.

Further experiments with skin samples in a test tube showed that the skin was still able to send the appropriate signals when pushed, suggesting the problem is reversible.

"The question that it raises is what survival advantage there is to this, is there a negative reason for having too much immunity in the skin when you get older?

"Going in to intervene may have consequences that we dont realise and thats where we need to do more research."

He added that the same immune problems may be apparent in other tissues in the body.

As of midday Sunday, Jimena was located about 285 miles (458 km) south of Cabo Correintes, Mexico, or about 500 miles (804 km) south-southeast of the southern tip of Baja California, Roberts said. The storm is expected to continue in a north-northwest motion and approach the southwestern tip of Baja California sometime early Tuesday, he said.

"It started out kind of slow for the Pacific," said Robbie Berg, another specialist at the hurricane center. "But actually August, now weve had seven named storms form, and thats pretty busy for August. We havent seen that -- I think its been a couple decades since weve seen that many storms in August."

The hurricane could bring some much-needed rain to southern California, where wildfires have scorched thousands of acres in the greater Los Angeles area. Theres no reason for people in that area to panic, but they should keep an eye on Jimena, Berg said.
